Erasmus Mundus and EU scholarships

Europe funds international students more openly than most regions. Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters are fully funded and studied across multiple countries — and there are national schemes behind them worth applying to.

What an EMJM actually is

An Erasmus Mundus Joint Master (EMJM) is a single master’s degree delivered by a consortium of universities in at least two European countries. You study in each, and the scholarship is genuinely full — not a partial fee waiver.

Fully funded

Covers tuition in full, plus a monthly living allowance and a contribution to travel and installation costs.

Study in two or more countries

Mobility between consortium universities is built into the programme structure.

One joint or multiple degree

You graduate with a joint degree, or degrees from each participating university.

Highly competitive

Selection is international and demanding — a strong academic record and a specific motivation letter matter.

How to apply

The EMJM application in practice

01
Find the right consortium
Each EMJM has its own subject focus, partner universities and entry requirements. Applying to a poorly matched programme is the most common mistake.
02
Check the deadline
Most consortia close applications between October and January for the following September intake. Deadlines are firm.
03
Prepare the documents
Transcripts, degree certificate, English proof, CV, two references and a motivation letter written specifically for that consortium.
04
Apply directly to the consortium
Applications go to the consortium, not to Erasmus+ centrally, and each has its own portal and format.
05
Scholarship selection
Consortia rank applicants and nominate scholarship holders. You may be admitted without funding, so plan a fallback.
06
Visa and mobility planning
Because you move between countries, visa and residence planning is more involved than a single-country degree.
