Background

About Cyprus

Country facts

Cyprus is an island EU member state in the eastern Mediterranean with about 1.3 million people. Greek and Turkish are official languages, and English is very widely spoken. Nicosia is the capital; Limassol and Larnaca are major coastal cities.

Higher education system

Cypriot higher education includes public and private universities and colleges. Degrees follow the Bologna framework and many are validated or delivered jointly with UK institutions, which is why English-taught provision is unusually broad for the region.
